One or the other may still vaguely remember the two Shadowman games that were released sometime around the turn of the millennium. Well, supplies are coming.
To remember the implementation of the Shadowman comic, you have to dig pretty deep in the moth box. There was a first game that was released in 1999 for N64 and PSone, and later also for PC and Dreamcast, at that time still under the Acclaim flag. In the action-adventure, shadowman Mike LeRoi had to take on five killers and their leader Legion in the realm of the dead. A remaster of the game was released in 2021.
2002 followed with Shadow Man: 2econd Coming, a sequel for the PS2, in which you again had to take on the role of the voodoo-loving taxi driver. So it’s been over 20 years since we’ve seen anything new from the Shadowman.
That has just changed, because Blowfish Studios is apparently working on a revival of the series and actually announced a new game with Shadowman: Darque Legacy. The same should appear next year for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S and wants to keep the premises of the previous games.
In Darque Legacy, a conspiracy threatens to overtake the living realm as Shadowman engages in “challenging hand-to-hand combat” with “terrifying, inhuman beings.” Visiting the land of the living and the infernal realm of the dead, players embody the “hero of darkness to bridge the necromantic chasm”.
“We were honored to breathe new life into such an iconic IP with Shadowman, the first game since the PlayStation 2 era,” said Game Director Clinton McCleary. “We look forward to guiding fans into the terrifying, punishing but rewarding experience we’ve created. Assuming the role of Shadowman, players will encounter a captivating cast of heroes and villains as they explore their… Wielding scythes against the deadliest denizens of the Deadside.”
cool right? Anyway, here’s the announcement trailer:
