The BattleTech Basics Box joins a pair of starter kits already available from Catalyst Game Labs, giving both experienced and novice players more options. If you need more stuff, it’s $24.99 BattleTech: Beginner Box Contains a pair of unpainted miniature BattleMechs, an 18″ x 22″ double-sided playing card, dice, datasheets, and some additional goodies.
BattleTech: A game of armored combat Offering a more immersive experience, it packs seven minis along with a pair of 18″ x 22″ double-sided cards, record sheets, pilot cards, and a slew of goodies to introduce you to the Inner Sphere. The core box normally costs $59.99, but you can currently pick one up at Amazon or Walmart for around $48.
The coolest thing about these starter sets is that the contents of each box barely overlap. That means you won’t end up with duplicate minis or reference cards if you decide to invest in other sets at a later date.
