On Thursday, Capcom announced a series of four comics leading up to the events of Street Fighter VI. Produced in partnership with Udon Comics, the series will keep avid gamers up to date on what their favorite fighters have been up to since then Street Fighter V. The first of street fighter 6‘s prequel comics, which focus on Japanese-American Spitfire Ken Masters, hilariously confirm that the McMillionaire has sadly become a crypto brother.
last June, SF6 history leaks revealed that Ken’s wife Eliza got fed up and left him, taking their son Mel with her. At the time, Ken’s story and reports that other characters’ victory quotes sometimes referred to him as “washed up” led fans to believe that Ken was the latest divorce court victim. Because it’s the internet, Ken’s tough times led to a sea of memes filling in the blanks, some jokingly suggesting that his rumored divorce was a result of his heavy involvement in cryptocurrency and NFT scams.
Accordingly Ken’s officer SF6 organic, “Allegations of orchestrating a criminal conspiracy have forced Ken to abandon his family and business and go into hiding,” so it sounds like he might not be divorced after all. However, it turns out that “Sorry Ken Master” Memes about Ken Shilling Crypto hit the spot for the buck.

In Street Fighter 6 #1: Note (which you can read here), Ken is about to host a live streaming tournament in the evolving (and fictional) Asian nation by Nayshall. Fellow street fighter Johann Petrovich provides helpful commentary, explaining that Ken’s fancy tournament that uses omni-directional AI drones for shootingOrderly combat in an arena amidst ancient ruins will help draw world attention to Nayshall, helping guide the rapidly developing nation towards independence. However, many citizens do not appreciate the developments that Ken is promoting in their country and political demonstrations against his initiatives are widespread. Meanwhile, the board of the Masters estate disagrees with Ken rushing into funding his lofty venture by playing fast and loose with “cryptocurrency and microinsurance” projects without the board voting on his “economic backing project.”
Ken gets full of Kendall Roy, rolling over his manager’s request to consult with his father about his decision, irritably reminding his suits that he’s now acting CEO, and saying he’s going through the tournament no matter what his Executives or the protesting people think of Nayshall. But if you thought the crypto stuff and Ken’s stupid corporate imperialist antics were bad, the comic also revealed that Ken is an absentee father.
Luke is a better father to Mel than Ken
At the beginning of the 49-page comic Ken’s son Mel he tells his bodyguard Lukewhich was introduced Street Fighter V and plays a prominent role in 6that he had to cancel his camping trip with his friends because Ken wanted him to come to the tournament. When Mel has a check-in call with Ken, his father mistakenly lashes out when he answers the phone, thinking he’s getting a call from dissatisfied board members. The two then have an awkward conversation about Ken expressing more interest in his tournament than his son, leading to Mel hanging up with his dear old bumbling dad.
Good thing Uncle Guile wasn’t around or Ken would have had to pay dearly for it. Fear not, readers, as Mel’s road trip with Luke turns into a makeshift camping trip for the couple, with Luke tactfully asking if he can befriend Mel in the mobile game they both play. Ken, on the other hand, t-bones his escort vehicle off the road from angry protesters. To be continued I think.
