The Gunvolt series proved to be a hit with fans of Japanese 2D action games, although it now appears that the series has come to an end for the time being. One might assume that Inti Creates would want to expand its horizons and work on something new after producing Gunvolt games since 2014. Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 is set to release on multiple platforms in 2022. Here’s what Inti Creates developer CEO Takuya Aizu had to say to fans on Twitter:
“Thank you so much! I’m glad you’ve been playing since Mega Man Zero. The Gunvolt series has come to an end for now, but I think it’s time to start thinking about future development. Even though it’s not Gunvolt, look forward to our brand new project!”
TL Note: the word used here is 一段落, which means “to reach a stopping place, to settle down (before the next stage)”. This doesn’t necessarily mean that the Gunvolt series has stopped altogether; it just means he’ll move on from it for the time being.
