With the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) blocking Microsoft’s proposed takeover of Activision Blizzard, questions are being raised as to whether the deal will eventually go through. The trick is that Microsoft is appealing the AMC’s decision. Meanwhile, the deal is also being investigated by other regulators around the world, and it looks like one of those investigations, that of the European Commission, will end very soon with the approval result.
According to a report published by Reuters
Microsoft’s numerous licensing agreements with Nvidia and other cloud streaming platforms would have tipped the balance in favor of “yes”. Added to this is that this is not the first time that reports have claimed that the Commission is likely to approve the deal.
Despite this, it should be noted that the CMA blocked the deal, even though reports claimed it would do the exact opposite. That’s why it’s not practical to raise the bells on the fly.
During, Activision Blizzard also faced stiff resistance from US regulators, with the Federal Trade Commission filing an antitrust lawsuit against Microsoft in an attempt to block the deal.
In the Xbox area, we are not losing faith and we hope that everything will end well, especially given the high amount that Microsoft would be forced to pay Activision Blizzard if its acquisition does not materialize.
