One of the biggest changes in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a new set capabilities to manage.
You can use it to craft (ignite) weapons, ride rocks in the sky, and even build vehicles.
Below we list the skills and how to unlock them. The good news is that most of them are available within the first few hours of gameplay by completing the Great Sky Island shrines – and there are additional opportunities to track them down from there.
For possible spoiler Because of this, we will discuss this at the bottom of the page in case you want to experience it first hand.
How to unlock Recall
To unlock Recall, you must complete Nachoyah Shrine on Great Sky Island.
Recall lets you “rewind” objects in the world. As shown by Nintendo in a pre-release gameplay demonstration, Link uses the recall ability on a rock that has fallen from a sky island and sends it shooting back into the sky like an elevator. Link can stand on the rock as he climbs back into the sky and use it as a vantage point to jump off and glide to a sky island.
How to Unlock Fuse (Combine Weapons)
To unlock Fuse you must complete In-isa Shrine on Great Sky Island.
The Fuse ability allows you to combine weapons, shields, and arrows with inanimate objects to create a special weapon. These weapons appear to be more trainable, and some of them have unique abilities. Our best backup combos can give you both specific recommendations and ideas for where this ability can lead. And if you want to reverse the process, the good news is you can unback the backup too.
How to Unlock Ultrahand (Building Structures)
To unlock Ultrahand you must complete Ukouh Shrine on Great Sky Island.
The Ultrahand ability differs from the Fuse ability: instead of combining things together, you kind of glue them together. By gluing objects together in certain ways, you can create vehicles, whether it’s a boat, car, or plane. It is also used to solve puzzles around the world including (but not limited to) Addison’s Hudson Construction puzzles.
How to unlock Ascend (floating through ceilings)
To unlock Ascend you must complete Gutanbac Shrine on Great Sky Island.
With Ascend, you no longer have to climb every mountain you see and wait for your precious stamina. Instead, you can aim for the ceiling of a cave and swim right through it to get to the top of the mountain. While you probably can’t do this for every mountain, it’s still a helpful tool that will save you time and endurance.
How to unlock Link’s last “missing” ability
Once you’ve unlocked the above four skills and completed the Great Sky Island region, you’re ready to explore Hyrule. However, you’ll quickly find that your selection tool is missing an additional skill. So what is this last ability and how do you find it?
[Ed. note: This section contains spoilers for a neat mechanic in Tears of the Kingdom.]
The skill in question is called Autobuild. The in-game description states that “Your Ultrahand projects will be instantly rebuilt using nearby items and zonaite.” Autobuild [also] records your previous creations.”
In summary, it lets you quickly create creations from a list without having to manually edit it with Ultrahand. Ideally, do this when the required components are nearby and consuming them; If it isn’t, you’ll need to use Zonait, a resource you can find (mostly in the depths) to make up the difference.
As for these listed creations, they are in the form of current builds in a “history list” as well as any “blueprints” you have collected such as: B. schema blocks included.
