As you advance The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you will come across all sorts of strange animals. Sometimes these beasts ride other beasts into battle.
The fight talus is one such villain – home to three bokoblins, this stone talus variant has more attacking abilities than its cousin, but doesn’t hit quite as hard and also has less health. That’s all great news if it’s your first Talus fight, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be an easy fight by any means.
It’s pretty easy to spot thanks to its massive, grand shape, but unless you’re up for a four-on-one fight, you’ll quickly get smashed on the pavement.
Where to find the Battle Talus in Tears of the Kingdom?
The first Battle Talus, which you’re likely to encounter, is east of Lookout Landing below Hyrule Castle on your way to your visit Tukarok Shrine. You can spot it right at the end of the Orsedd Bridge.
As you approach this enemy, make sure you head straight for the blue cover south of the road. This boss hits hard and the indestructible cover will be your best friend.
How to defeat the Battle Talus in Tears of the Kingdom
First, make sure you pack a bow and some arrows. And equip your ascension ability.
You should duck behind cover and take out the three bokoblins riding the talus (one on each shoulder and the head). This isn’t strictly necessary, but it will make your life easier.
Once that’s done, look for the big black rock on his left shoulder (on the right as he approaches you). You can target this with ZL if needed to make things a bit easier.
The next step is difficult as it requires careful timing. Once you hit the black rock, the Battle Talus will be briefly stunned and kneel. You must sprint underneath it and use the climb ability to “swim” through your enemy. It’s a little weird if you think about it for too long, but it works.
Once you get to the top, jump out and dash towards the black rocks with your strongest weapon. When you defeat them Flux construct 1 and have a weapon with a power of about 20, now is the time to use it.
If you don’t deal enough damage, the talus will throw you off. You’ll likely take some damage in the process, but just hit the black rock again and repeat the process of going up and hitting the black rock.
Be careful though – without the blue tarp’s cover, you’ll be vulnerable to their attacks. Not only does it hurl rocks at you, but it packs quite a punch as well.
How to use the Stone Talus Heart
Along with a whole lot of gems (Amber, rubyAnd opal), the Battle Talus (and the standard Stone Talus) drop a Stone Talus Heart. How Flux construct 1 coreyou can’t pick it up – but what you can do is fuse it into a weapon for a massive damage boost.
Simply put, equip a weapon that hasn’t already been fused (we used a powerful Zonaite sword), then use the Fusion ability and create one Stone Talus Hammer. Our weapon’s attack power has increased from 7 to 20, which means the following almost tripled its attack power with +13 Attack.
Note: You can fuse the Stone Talus Heart to your shield, but we don’t recommend it. We’ve done the science for you, and as you can see, you don’t get a buff to your shield for doing so.
