Fall Guys lets players create their own mayhem with the new Creative Mode

Alongside the launch of Season 4, Fall Guys introduced Creative Mode, giving players all the tools they need to create custom stages to play and share, and it’s available today!

Xbox Wire was lucky enough to get a glimpse of Creative Mode in action ahead of release, and it really looks like great fun. The tools are intuitive; You don’t have to be a master architect to build a challenging and chaotic level. Just set a starting point and a finish line, then fill the course with bouncy obstacles, steep ramps, and other crazy objects for your beans to overcome.

We also had the chance to speak to Fall Guys Creative lead designer Miguel Rafael to learn more about how creative mode was designed to be accessible without restrictions. If you see Miguel in a lobby with you make sure you don’t catch him under any circumstances, he let us know he’s having a hard time getting crowns anyway…

Xbox Wire: Why was bringing Fall Guys Creative to Fall Guys a great idea?

Miguel Raphael: Players are hungry for Fall Guys content, and we felt the best way to satiate that insatiable appetite was to release Creative into the wild. It’s about putting the power to shape the Fall Guys experience and universe right in the hands of players.

How is Creative designed to give players freedom while respecting the constraints of a workplane?

MISTER: We allow players to combine obstacles as they wish, place them where they want, rotate them as they wish, and change various attributes such as speed, strength, and size. Our goal is to respect and overcome the limitations of a working level!

We want to expand the editor so that players can redefine what a Fall Guys level is about! So stay tuned in for updates. We’re bringing some never-before-seen Fall Guys goodies to Creative!

What was done internally with the tool? Did any of the creations surprise you?

RM: All rounds for the new season were created by our level design team in the creative section! That’s the most levels we’ve ever shipped in a season. And yes, at every playtest, the team said, “Wait, what? You can do that in creative mode?!” There are some really incredible races this season.

Could a player’s mode become popular enough to be added to the main game?

Can you walk us through the types of items that will be available in Creative, examples of what’s included and how to use them?

RM: In Fall Guys, there is only one item type that matters: OBSTACLES. Luckily we’ve added many of these including classic obstacles, fan favorites and a brand new obstacle to kick off the season. Use them to your heart’s content – there’s no wrong way to be creative!

Can players add their own flair with custom palettes/changes to the color and appearance of objects?

RM: You can change the colors of most of the obstacles and building blocks. In the future, we hope to expand the color choices to give creators even more freedom.

What can players look forward to in terms of ongoing updates?

RM: Are you trying to get me to reveal top secret information?

Of course, in addition to brand new ones, we will also be bringing more classic obstacles to the creative mode. The same goes for round guys! That’s all I can say for now, but we can’t wait to show everyone the endless possibilities of Fall Guys Creative!
