Elden Ring was certainly one of the biggest hits of the past year. The fans are all the more eagerly awaiting the announced DLC – but it could be a long time coming.
It’s time for publisher financial reports again after many ended their last fiscal year on March 31st, and Bandai Namco, famous publ isher of From Software, is no exception. Of course, the theme is also the megahit Elden Ring, which is loved by critics and players alike, and there is good and less good news about it.
Let’s improve your mood first with the good news: Elden Ring continues to sell well and has finally passed the 20 million mark. As of March 31, the game has now sold 20.5 million copies, half a million since February alone. So there are still enough people who buy the game even now.
However, there is also less good news. Usually, financial reports, especially when a new financial year has started, also throw out outlooks and forecasts for the new year. The worrying thing is that one name doesn’t appear in it, namely Elden Ring – only the mobile games, Armored Core 6 and the upcoming titles from Spike Chunsoft are mentioned.
Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree does not appear in the forecasts, the brand is under “medium to long-term orientation” for the new fiscal year. In the worst case, this could mean that we have to wait a very long time for the expansion, because if you interpret the statements, it cannot be expected that Shadow of the Erdtree will appear in the fiscal year that has just started.
Accordingly, the DLC could only be released after April 1, 2024. There were already reports that Shadow of the Erdtree would not be available until after Armored Core 6 anyway, but now it looks like we’ll have to be a lot more patient.
