Polygon managed to speak with legendary Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom game director Hidemaro Fujibayashi. One of the topics they touch on is whether or not they would be interested in The Legend of Zelda movie given the huge success of The Super Mario Bros. Mr Aonuma said: “I must say I am interested. For sure.” Although he hinted that a Zelda movie is not currently in production.
Just to ask you one more question that you probably can’t answer: Has the recent success of the Mario movie got you excited about the possibility of a Zelda adaptation?
Aunum: I have to say I’m interested. For sure. But I’m not the only one interested in something that moves things, unfortunately.
Fujibayashi: Perhaps the vote of the fans is important here.
