Transmission breaks down Tears of the Kingdom isn’t quite as frustrating as the first game, thanks to a new fuse ability that lets you combine weapons to increase durability and strength. A recently discovered bug with item duplication makes things even less worrying. It was found by Twitter user Modoki_returns and shared on YouTube in a video by BLAINES and it’s pretty easy to understand.
As with many item duplication issues in Nintendo Switch games, it revolves around some tricks in the menu. Basically any new melee weapon, bow or shield discover For the first time, it can be duplicated in just a few steps, giving you a second copy to use immediately once the first copy breaks.
How to duplicate weapons in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
- Drop the strongest shields or weapons in your inventory.
- Make sure you are not carrying a shield or weapon.
- Pick up a shield or weapon with a “???” on it. Symbol.
- When the info message appears, press the Home/Plus button to open your inventory screen.
- Press Y to sort the items.
- Equip an item that you want to get rid of.
- Exit the inventory screen.
- Reopen the inventory screen and drop off the item you wanted to get rid of.
- pick it up again
- It should now be a copy of the new item you picked up earlier.
The bug only works if the weapon you pick up and copy is the strongest in your inventory. So first drop anything that might get in the way. You can also reload your last save if you accidentally pick up a new powerful device for the first time and forget to use the exploit.
Players used it to clone that 70 Strength Royal Shield found at the beginning of the game, but it’s helpful with everything. The only major downside right now is that there doesn’t seem to be a way to make it work with items found in treasure chests. So it can’t give you a second Hyrulean Shield, for example.
All in all, it’s not dissimilar Item duplication is disrupted breath of the wildor the ones that people used to use clone things in Pokemon Scarlet And Violet. The current method isn’t quite as robust as this one, but its ease of use allows for huge time savings. We’ll see how soon Nintendo rolls out the patch and if players can discover an even better duplicate exploit until then.
