Are you enjoying a day at the beach with your friends, but one small Bluetooth box doesn’t have enough power to fill the whole group with sound? No problem. Just put a second Bluetooth speaker or several at the side. There are numerous ways to connect multiple portable speakers, which we will introduce to you below.
Which way you should choose to connect the boxes depends on many factors – such as which mobile phone and which loudspeakers you use or have available at the moment.
Pair via Airplay, Dual Audio or Soundseeder
Both Apple and Samsung offer the option of sending the Bluetooth signal to two boxes at the same time on their cell phones. At Apple, the linking of several Bluetooth speakers with on-board resources works via AirPlay 2. The standard is primarily supported by more expensive boxes such as the Sonos Move and also requires a WLAN connection. This method is therefore less suitable for outdoor activities.
Samsung also uses its own technology for linking two Bluetooth boxes with on-board resources. This is called dual audio and, unlike Apple, does not have to be supported by the box, but only by your cell phone or tablet. So far, Samsung has only integrated this standard in a few devices. But it also works without a WLAN connection, which allows it to be used outdoors.
If your Galaxy phone doesn’t support dual audio or if you’re using an Android phone from another manufacturer, you can alternatively use the SoundSeeder app – but you have to pay for unlimited music enjoyment here.
