Many will say that the sinews of war are exclusive and this applies not only to video games but also to the VOD platform space. For once, Amazon can boast of an excellent animated series… and it’s fairly unknown.

What has been done can no longer be done

Knowing the hilarity and absurdity of an animated series like BoJack Horseman, you might as well say that with a project this mature, we didn’t expect people to think that way. Creator and screenwriter respectively of the crazy cartoon from Netflix, Raphaël Bob-Waksberg and Kate Purdy are also behind Undone, an animated series exclusively for Prime Video. The first season dates back to 2019 and the second was released just last year.

The problem is that it’s kind of slipped under the radar while the reviews are quite raving for it. The story is about Alma, who discovers the ability to control the weather after a car accident. She will then research this amazing ability (Hello Life is Strange) to try and prevent her father’s death before focusing her storyline on other family members in Season 2.

It is of all beauty

If Undone made an impression, it was because of the moral implication of his remarks. The subject of grief, social and family relationships or mental health is thus comprehensively and accurately addressed by the press and the public.. Undone isn’t a humorous show, but it uses sci-fi to underpin its emotional plot and encourage viewers to think about sometimes (often?) painful life issues.

There is one more thing that makes Undone stand out: its graphic style. This is where rotoscoping comes into play, a concept that consists in taking real images and translating them into the world of animation. The trailer above shows it particularly well, with an atypical result halfway between live-action and drawing.

The possibility of also registering the appearances and faces of well-known and recognized actors: Rosa Salazar (Alita Battle Angel, The Labyrinth, Bird Box), Bob Odenkirk (Saul Goodman in Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul) or Constance Marie (American Family) are to be cast … and many others again.

We highly recommend checking out Undone on Prime Video if you haven’t already. The only downside is the uncertainty of a third season as Amazon has yet to comment on the subject. We keep our fingers crossed and therefore support a project of this kind, which is ultimately quite atypical.
