How to Get a Free Amazon Prime Membership

Amazon Prime is one of the most popular tech subscriptions, bundling delivery, streaming, and discounts into one monthly or yearly subscription.

But if you can’t afford those fees – or just want to try out the service before committing – the good news is that it’s almost always possible to get Prime without paying a dime – at least for a while. small moment.

Here we will see how you can get Amazon Prime for free.

What is Amazon Prime?

Amazon Prime started out as a next-day delivery service. Customers could pay a flat fee for a year of unlimited next day deliveries on qualifying purchases from the store – but now it’s offering so much more.

These days you also get access to Prime Video and Prime Music streaming services, free ebooks through Prime Reading, early access to plenty of Lightning deals even outside of Prime Day sales, and related perks on platforms such as Twitch and Deliveroo.

Right now it costs $14.99/£8.99 per month or $139/£95 per year for a Prime subscription. In the US, there’s also a cheaper $8.99 monthly option that just gets you Prime Video access, without the other benefits.

Try Prime with a free trial

Prime’s benefits are valuable year-round, but if you’re not a member, you might want to give it a try – or need one of the features all at once. Maybe you need early access to a lightning deal, a particular movie or show you want to watch only on Prime Video (see the best shows on Prime right now), or an article you need to be delivered as soon as possible.

Either way, you can get Amazon Prime for free for a limited time with the official 30-day free trial. The best part is that it’s not just for new users – as long as you haven’t been a Prime member in the last 12 months you can take advantage of this, which means you can try the free trial every year.

To register, you must be a current student with an eligible college email address.

Keep in mind that the Prime student plan is a very slightly different service. You get most of the same benefits, plus some discounts on textbooks and clothing, but unlike a regular Prime membership, you can’t share your benefits with another family member.

Share an account with a family member

Notice that line about benefit sharing within your family? Well, if you don’t have a Prime membership but a relative does, this could be an easy way to grab the benefits.

Family Sharing is one of the lesser-known benefits of a Prime plan: every Prime member (except student plans) can share their account with another adult, giving both accounts all the benefits of the service, Prime Video to Prime Day deals.

The person with the account should head to their account settings and find “Share your Prime benefits”, then select “Invite someone new”. They will need your name, email address and date of birth to add you to the subscription, and keep in mind that this Really is for the family: you will also have to share access to your payment information, so it takes a lot of trust.

Get Amazon Prime for free from Vodafone in the UK

The official free trial is not the only option.

If you’re in the UK, Vodafone Entertainment plans include Amazon Prime for free and are available for new contract phones and SIM plans only, so you don’t need to buy a new phone to enjoy them – of course you will need to switch your service to Vodafone.

Cancel your trial before it ends

One final note: if you’re absolutely sure you don’t want to continue with Prime beyond 30 days, remember to cancel your subscription. Otherwise, it’ll cost you $139/£95 for a year or $14.99/£8.99 per month.

You can actually do this at any time during the subscription – even right after signing up – and you’ll keep the benefits for the duration of the trial. This means that you don’t have to wait 30 days to cancel unless you’re really trying out the service and want to see if you like it or not.
