Sonic the Hedgehog is on a world tour, kicking off in London later this year.
Back in 2021, to celebrate Sonic’s 30th anniversary, Sega hosted a free-to-watch livestream, with a live orchestra playing a bunch of classic Sonic tunes. Sega apparently loves putting on shows like this so much it decided to bring them back with the Sonic Symphony World Tour, which will have its first show at London’s Barbican Hall on September 16 this year Confirmed at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California.
“Sonic Symphony is an immersive live concert experience celebrating more than 30 years of timeless music from Sega’s iconic Sonic the Hedgehog franchise,” Sega said in a press release. “From classic 8-bit and 16-bit tunes to rock and EDM songs, each live performance will take fans on a musical journey through the Sonic universe, allowing fans to relive their favorite moments through songs while simultaneously playing Fantastic game screen time.”
These are just two dates announced so far, but on the World Tour website you can sign up for the newsletter to be notified about new tour dates, with more expected in 2024.
The tour is co-produced by Sega, soundtrec, SOHO Live and will be presented by MGP Live – if you’re interested in attending, there will be advance tickets for newsletter subscribers, so best bet something like this might sell out fast exhausted.
While this year’s Sonic won’t be as big as last year’s Sonic Frontiers, the latest game in the series is expected to have more free DLC sometime this year, with the first update released in March.
