Meta aims to create a great alternative to Elon Musk’s social network.
A Twitter on Instagram. Although it may sound crazy, it could happen. From Meta they plan to start compete with Twitter. Since Elon Musk took over the management of the bird social network, many users are dissatisfied with the social network and are looking for other alternatives such as Mastodon or Bluesky.
Now Meta could create a new alternative to Twitter… in the multiverse from Instagram. The information comes from The Verge and includes a first image leaked of what appears to be a slide promoting the new feature.
A new Twitter-style Instagram app
The leaked images reveal that Meta would not introduce a version of Twitter to Instagram, but that it would be “a text application” separately who would use instagram accounts to login. This way, users will be able to interact with their followers and other fan communities.
In the screenshot, we see a user’s profile and, indeed, a series of comments that form a thread. So far, we don’t know what the app’s name will be, but we do know that Meta has given it the codename “P92” or “Barcelona.”
From a (slightly fuzzy) example I got, Meta’s new app looks a lot like Twitter.
So, could this replace all the Twitter screenshots we’ve seen on the feed lately? Maybe.
It is impossible to predict how the public will react, but it could be an alternative. pic.twitter.com/xgQa1kUjCl

Users of the new social network will be able to attach photos and videos to their text messages, according to Lia Haberman, the app will also have controls for creators and security functions of account. THE hidden words from Instagram will also be present and, in theory, each post will have a 500 character limit.
One of the most curious notes about this leak is that it suggests that users of other platforms such as Mastodon will have the ability to search and follow other users of this new Instagram social network.
This is not the first time that Instagram has taken inspiration from other apps to integrate a new service into its app. They recently included the candid stories accompanying the ratings and group profiles, some stories based on BeReal and Twitter. For the moment, we will have to continue to wait to see how the development of this new Instagram application evolves.
