At the end of 2021, one of the most complete watches of the moment, the TicWatch Pro 3 Ultra, was analyzed in EL ESPAÑOL – El Androide Libre, a smartwatch that not only had all the power of Android inside, but allowed also an autonomy not normally seen in models with complex systems as was the case.
Since then, things have changed a lot, because of Google’s closer approach to Samsung with Wear OS 3, because of the launch of Google’s first smartwatch, the Pixel Watch, and because more and more companies are developing apps for watches, apps that allow these devices to be used as wrist computers.
Now a new model is coming to the market, expected as it is the flagship model of the Mobvoi brand. We are talking about TicWatch 5 Pro, which arrives in Europe at 359.99 dollars.
Hardware and software
This new watch should be one of the most interesting of the year due to its combination of hardware and software.
It’s the first smartwatch to use Qualcomm’s new processor for watches, the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1. This chip promises better battery life, more advanced sensor measurement and even the use of artificial intelligence in small devices.
Mobvoi’s strategy with this watch goes through use of artificial intelligence process the data extracted from the watch and be able to draw conclusions that allow the user to make decisions that improve health.
We also have hardware novelties abroad, with a rotating crown which allows you to comfortably navigate the interface without having to touch the screen. Of course, this is a watch with US-MIL-STD 810H and 5ATM water resistance.
And it can’t be ignored that it retains things like NFC, which lets you pay directly with the watch through Google Pay and other apps.
Two screens are better than one
As expected, the TicWatch 5 Pro continues to include a dual screen, which allows you to increase the autonomy compared to other models of the competition. In addition, we can now navigate between different data using the crown and the low-power display, without waking the watch and causing the battery to drain too quickly.
The battery is able to recharge to 65% in about 30 minutes, increasing the duration since the watch is able to go into low consumption mode if it does not detect that we are using it, for example when we are sleeping. The autonomy will be up to 80 hours according to the manufacturer.
Google and Mobvoi software
As for the software, the company was finally able to implement it in one of its watches. Wear OS by Google (Wear OS 3), the version that Samsung used in its models but which had not reached many other brands. This will allow you to use new apps for Wear OS that have been developed by Google and other companies.
Also, Mobvoi offers a platform that integrates a brand-specific AI model with which we can create covers using text-image language templates. As a gift with the purchase, we will have access to the VIP sleep monitoring service plan for one year.
TicWatch 5 Pro Price
The Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 5 can now be purchased on the company’s website and on Amazon for $359.99. The watch only has one color, “Obsidian” Jet Black, but there will be multiple compatible straps, all 24mm, with Jungle Green, Bonfire Orange and Twilight Blue colors on the Silicone and Tuxedo Black models. and Smart Casual Blue on silicone models leather models.
