Square Enix used the PlayStation Showcase to unveil an ultimate Final Fantasy 16 trailer that is absolutely epic. The PS5 exclusive once again proves its potential.
Final Fantasy 16 will be available in a month and is already shaping up to be one of the strongest PS5 exclusives of the year. Square Enix ultimately fell short with Forspoken, but the saga’s final numbered episode has every chance of succeeding where the other production failed. The Japanese publisher is betting heavily on it, just like Sony, which has regularly highlighted the console’s strong release. So it was almost certain that FF16 would make a detour to the PlayStation Showcase, and it didn’t fail.
One final epic trailer for Final Fantasy 16
Last big trailer before release. Amidst strong and soft announcements from the PlayStation Showcase, Final Fantasy 16 has once again made a very eye-catching appearance. It’s not about presenting the extensively shown gameplay again. This time Square Enix puts the emphasis on the story, a darker tone and is inspired by Game of Thrones. For the record, the game takes you to the heart of Valisthéa, where the six nations each have a mother crystal that provides them with the magic they need on a daily basis. When this invaluable resource runs out, it becomes the focus of conflicts that Clive Rosfield will bear the brunt of.
The story of FF16 will follow this injured hero through three stages of his life: his youth, his twenties and his thirties. This launch trailer then gives us a glimpse of Clive Rosfield as he seeks revenge and must contend with his own cruel fate. Several emissaries, those beings capable of harnessing the powers of the primordial beings (invocations), are also highlighted. Everyone has their own sense of justice and everyone is treated differently in different countries. Some countries regard them almost as deities, others as pariahs, and still others use them only for military purposes. A complex geopolitical backdrop that will set a much more mature and somber tone. See you on PS5 on June 22nd to discover the story of Clive.
