rumors about a Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remake have been floating around for years. Now we know that fans’ speculation wasn’t in vain. Konami announced at Sony’s PlayStation Showcase that the PS2 classic is being modernized for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC so players can enjoy it all over again.
The remake is called Metal Gear Solid Triangle: Snake Eater There is no release date yet and the only real glimpse of it was Naked Snake sneaking through a very dark jungle. The Metal Gear Solid The Master Collection is scheduled for release this fall and will include: Metal Gears: Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Libertyand the original snake eater.
“We work hard for it Metal Gear Solid Triangle: Snake Eater Be a faithful recreation of the original story and game designwhile evolving the gameplay with stuNning visuals and a seamless user experience,” the unknown team behind the remake wrote in a statement.
First, a possible remake was reported back in 2021 from VGC
which claimed that mega-porting house Virtuos was behind it. The game was to be one of the major milestones in publisher Konami’s return to console gaming. There have also been rumors of remakes and remasters of other classics in the company’s portfolio, including silent Hill And Castlevania.
The fifth game in the metal gears Series, snake eater takes place earliest in the timeline and follows Big Boss during the Cold War in the 1960s when he was known as the Naked Snake. It appeared on PS2 in 2004 and was eventually expanded into a version called Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence and ported to HD via the PS3 and Xbox 360. Depending on who you ask, it’s one of the best games, if not the best, in the series.

The announcement of the remake is less surprising after Konami revealed it last year Silent Hill 2 would get the same treatment. According to Bloober Team, this project remained controversial due to the passionate following of the original version and some negative reactions to the overhauled graphics and art direction changes for the new PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC versions.
snake eater will no doubt be in a similarly difficult position, especially since original director and head writer, Hideo Kojima, had a bitter breakup with Konami many years ago. Talthough recent examples like that Resident Evil 4 remake show, it is not impossible to bring a masterpiece from 2004 faithfully into the present.
