Some of the PS5’s biggest showcase games aren’t exclusives

Not every game is announced below Yesterday’s PlayStation Showcase Turns out it will only be playable on PlayStation consoles. Xbox announced on Twitter after the show – just a little smugly – that 12 of the games published by PlayStation will also be available for Xbox.

The overall list of Xbox compatible games announced in the showcase is as follows:

  • Alan Wake 2will be released on October 17, 2023
  • Assassin’s Creed Miragewill be released on October 12th
  • Cat Quest: Pirates of the Purribean is expected to be released in 2024
  • Dragon’s Dogma IIPublication to be announced
  • Ghostrunner IIRelease TBA 2023
  • Immortals of Aveumwill be released on July 20th
  • Marathon, release to be announced in 2023
  • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Remake, release to be announced
  • Neva releases TBA 2024
  • The Plucky Squire is expected to be released in 2023
  • The Talos Principle 2Release TBA 2023
  • Teardown, release will be announced in 2023

That’s a lot of games! It’s about half of what PlayStation announced, and you can already grab a chunk of it –the purely digital Alan Wake 2 Is Available for advance purchase available on the Xbox Store, as well as the Deluxe Edition of Immortals of Aveum.

While it seems Pirates of the Purribean and his PlayStation friends temporarily buried that console war Beil, Xbox parent company Microsoft is still sweating in its bid to take on even more video games by acquiring Activision Blizzard. But Microsoft will likely miss the June window anyway, with both the company and Activision Blizzard hoping to close their deal in the year. Yesterday, May 24, Microsoft appealed against the UK blockade and on the offensive team the US Federal Trade Commission has a pending complaint against the merger because it allows Microsoft to “suppress competitors to its Xbox gaming consoles”. An evidentiary hearing on this complaint is currently scheduled for August 2nd.
