7: Spider-Man & Venom: Maximum Carnage
Completely in 2D, like a Double Dragon, Spider-Man & Venom: Maximum Carnage is a beat ’em all released in 1994 in which the player embodies Spider-Man (right?!) but also Venom and breaks away from the order in the streets from New York. The city has indeed been turned upside down since Carnage escaped from the asylum. With its pretty graphics, nervy gameplay, well-done animations and devastating combos, Maximum Carnage is a very enjoyable action game Designed to satisfy Weaver fans. On the side of the shortcomings, we note in particular a maneuverability that could have been more ergonomic and presented a very great difficulty.
6: Ultimate Spider-Man
In 2005, Ultimate Spider-Man was made available to gamers of the time. At first glance, Treyarch/Activision’s game isn’t very original: it’s a 3D action game starring the famous Spider-Man, in which you’ll have to defeat a whole series of enemies. However, the cel-shaded graphics and comic book-inspired staging give it some personality.. Despite gameplay issues, Ultimate Spider-Man manages to pull away from the game thanks to the presence of other well-known characters (hello Wolverine!), good playability and impressive freedom of movement.
5: Spider-Man: Dimensions
Who can do the most, can… the most! In Spider-Man: Dimensions, released in 2010, not two, not three, but four Spider-Man join forces to fight evil! As well as the classic Spider-Man everyone should know about, we’re treated to Spider-Man Noir creeping through the dark backyards of the 1930s, Spider-Man Ultimate infected with the symbiote, and finally Spider-Man 2099, evolving the future. Dimensions offers successful gameplay and impeccable staging. His journeys between dimensions add a nice variety, even if some levels are a little too long. The humor of the comics is also present: the Beenox/Activision software is a good choice.
4: Spider-Man 2
Published by Activision, this Spider-Man arrived on our consoles in 2004 and impressed his small world. Thanks to its well-done gameplay and its impressive (for the time) graphics of its open world, Spider-Man convinced many players. GTA-esque at heart, with fun quests, the software offers a nice freedom of action. In addition, the powers of the weaver are there to lighten the disputes. We swing from wire to wire with great joy. Equipped with smooth and detailed animations, the software inspires respect. The only downside: the missions are sometimes a bit superfluous.
3: Spider-Man
Throughout 2000, the Weaver emerges for new adventures and makes its debut on PlayStation. Developed by Neversoft, the title offers an adventure that will captivate fans of Peter Parker. The well-designed implementation immerses the player in a captivating action game. Spider-Man has many powers, the controls are well done, the level design takes us into the city but also into its basements, and above all: The game has an absolutely brilliant encyclopedic side for the fans. In fact, it is possible to unlock a large number of costumes and within the levels it is possible to track down hidden comics. Once unlocked, they grant access to detailed presentations.
2: Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Released in 2020, this standalone title Marvel’s Spider-Man offers a new adventure in which the player slips into the costume of Miles Morales. Classic in both its construction and scenario, breathtaking in its staging: Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales Clashes. Although it’s very close to the 2018 released game it’s inspired by, Miles Morales builds on excellent gameplay with numerous improvements over previous Insomniac Games productions. The title maximizes a perfectly orchestrated structure without ever trying to mess up the formula. This USP, more Hollywood than ever, wraps itself in a structure that’s admittedly very conventional, but devilishly effective.
1: Marvel’s Spider-Man
Insomniac’s Spider-Man managed to fit the mold of Sony productions perfectly. Pleasant to play, surprising, beautiful, moving – Spider-Man is the game that all superhero fans have been waiting for. Based on a proven formula, the developers have created a balanced and fun game thanks to the sense of freedom but also the power it conveys. No need to hesitate, biting into the Big Apple has never been so delicious! Apart from the few glitches, we regret boss fights that are not always at the top, overly systematic mini-games that are not always fun (connect circuits, match samples) and somewhat dangerous infiltration phases. Besides that, Marvel’s Spider-Man is a little bomb.
