Sony tells investors it plans to release two or more major game console annual championship title.
The games will span a mix of single-player and live service, and cover every “major genre.”
Genres recorded include shooters, action, sports, racing, platformers, and role-playing games. Sony says releasing two or more major titles in the genre each year will help maximize opportunities for the company’s “diversified portfolio.”
Such a program will help the company drive audience growth and diversity by leveraging “Sony Synergy,” while expanding to new platforms to increase audiences. Obviously, this will be PC and mobile.
Studios that will help take advantage of the program include live service games from Bungie, Haven, Accelbyte and Firewalk. Another pillar of growth includes indie games from Devolver Digital and IP from in-house studios Bluepoint, Valkyrie, Firesprite and Housemarque.
