After its premiere in December last year, Avatar: The Sense of Water has become one of the highest grossing films of all time along with Avengers: Endgame and its predecessor. The sequel to this adventure directed by James Cameron has convinced the majority of the public and many are already expecting a third part that aims to be epic.
and if well Cameron reiterated that this third part was practically done, a star seems to not entirely agree with these statements. Talking with Screen Rant, Sigourney Weaverwho plays Dr. Grace Augustine and her daughter Kiri, said she was going to reshoot scenes from the movie in January next year.
“I know in January I’ll be back and I’ll probably do some retouching, I don’t think there will be completely new scenes to shoot. I think it’s going to be refining what [James Cameron] he has now that he’s getting closer to post-production, because he always has too much material. He loves to roll. I wouldn’t even know where to begin to guess what we could do, but I think it’s just going back a couple of moments and giving him some sequences that he didn’t quite get the way he wanted.”
Cameron most likely wants to record loose scenes to, as the actress commented during the interview, improve according to which sequences. But it is curious to see how the American director wants to speed up the production of the film as much as possible, knowing that he has a year and a half left to add all the special effects, which are not few.
Avatar 3 was shot consecutively with Avatar: The Shape of Water. In 2020, Cameron claimed that the trilogy was almost done. Filming for Avatar 3 began in New Zealand in 2017 and wrapped in December 2020, and there are currently two other sequels in various stages of production scheduled for release in 2026 and 2028 respectively. Weaver will reprise the role of Kiri, the daughter of Augustine’s avatar who was adopted by Jake Sully and Neytiri.
