If you ask me, Android Auto is the best infotainment system I’ve ever tried. However, it is not free from errors and problems that can arise on a daily basis: Android Auto itself does not work to be slow because it has poor image quality. One of the reasons I love Android Auto so much is the apps you can “install”. However, sometimes an app just won’t show up on the car console: Why is an app not showing up in Android Auto? These are the main causes.
Are you compatible?
Android Auto is something like a mirror of your Android phone, so the apps you install on your mobile should automatically mirror on the car console, as long as they are compatible.
However, sometimes the installation process on the phone and the display on the car screen is not immediate, but rather takes time (you can try turning both devices off and on again). But sooner or later it should appear.
What if the app does not appear? The reason may simply be that the app does not support Android Auto. Keep in mind that not all apps are (or at least not yet): the most compatible applications are messaging, navigation and multimediabut being included in this category does not imply that they are Actually. There’s not much to do here beyond researching alternative apps.
Does it come from unknown sources?
Although there is an official list of official apps compatible with Android Auto, the reality is that There are compatible apps which are not on Google Play but you can installfor example with Android Auto Apps Downloader, an open source application to get the most out of your car’s infotainment system.
In this case, you may have successfully installed them but they do not appear. This can be fixed by going to the Android Auto developer settings, which you can access from your phone, by going to ‘Settings‘ > ‘connected devices‘ > ‘Android-Auto‘ and scroll down until you find the version, which you need to tap 10 times to activate.
Now tap on the three dots in the upper right corner and in “Developer Settings” check the option to Unknown sources.
Do you have the latest version of Android Auto?
Another reason why an application may not appear on your car console is that have not updated Android Autobecause it may be that the application is recently compatible with Android Auto, but you do not have the version with said integration.
This case has a simple solution: to update Android Auto to the latest version available (as long as your phone and car are compatible), open the app from the Google Play Store app store, tap the image of profile in the top corner. to the right and in ‘Manage apps and device‘, go to the ‘ tabManage‘. In ‘updates available‘ Check that you have no pending Android Auto updates.
If you discover that updates are available but not for your phone, you can download them from Apk Mirror and install them on your mobile. No matter which two paths you choose, you’ll need to connect your phone to the console for the update to complete effectively.
Is it configured correctly?
The reverse path can occur: that before you see an app in Android Auto and now you don’t. Maybe it’s a bug from a recent update or the permissions have changed and you need to add the app manually.
Recovering an app that has disappeared from Android Auto has a simple solution in most cases: on your phone follow the route’Settings‘ > ‘connected devices‘ and there it goes into Android Auto. There you will see the option of ‘Customize app menu‘, where you will see the list of compatible apps with a box on the right. If there is a checkmark, the app appears in the console, otherwise you won’t see it. So, if among these unchecked apps, you find the one you want to show, just tap to mark it.
