Eleven-year-old protagonist Grace Saunders embarks on a brief but remarkable errand at Villa Derceto. Jeremy Hartwood, one of the residents of the mansion, asks Grace for help sending a letter to his niece, Emily Hartwood. The path takes them through a wing of Villa Derceto invaded by a presence that seems to come straight from the depths of the bayou.
Without spoiling the main story, the prologue tells you what Alone in the Dark has to offer.
