The takeover of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft should be approved in the medium term and readjust the balance of power in the games industry. According to a new rumor, Sony wants to counter and possibly fish the Witcher developers from CD Projekt RED.
A leaker, who has often hit the mark in the past, is making people sit up and take notice with a new report, because Sony may want to counter Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard by fishing for a very well-known developer studio. We’re talking about none other than Studio CD Projekt RED, which is responsible for The Witcher.
The leaker is Liz, which in the past has mainly appeared with news about the sci-fi franchise Destiny and has turned out to be reliable in most cases. According to this, Sony is planning to take over CD Projekt RED, which could also make the next games in the immensely successful RPG series The Witcher in the console area exclusive to PlayStation.
There was speculation in this regard as early as March, but at the time it was even said that the takeover of CD Projekt RED had already been sealed – a circumstance that has not officially manifested itself to this day. However, the recent rumor does not cite any further evidence beyond a posting on Discord. As I said: In the past, the leaker has regularly hit the mark with his information, even if there were occasional deviations in smaller details. In this respect, the rumor as such should at least be taken seriously, although there is of course no official confirmation.
Of course, we’ll keep you up to date on this – and that also applies to another rumor that the leak has circulated: The action sequel Days Gone 2 is said to be in the works after all, after it didn’t look like it for a long time. Does it really happen?
