Former Nintendo president Satoru Iwata’s legacy lives on, and while VIZ Media has already localized “Ask Iwata” to commemorate his life and contributions to the video game industry over the years, there is now the possibility of a new book.
Nintendo Force – a magazine that follows in the footsteps of Nintendo Power, has announced by Kickstarter for a new hardcover book called ‘The Impact of Iwata’ and containing “over 220 pages”. It was written by the magazine’s editor-in-chief, Lucas M. Thomas, and will be published by the Sheridan CJK Group, known for its previous work on the Legends of Localization series.
At the time of writing, this Kickstarter is already halfway to its $29,000 goal, with more than 40 days to go.
If you’re wondering how it differs from what you may have already read, Thomas says this new book will cover Iwata’s “entire life span and beyond” — reflecting on the “continuing impact” he’s had in the years since his passing.
Along with the life history, The Impact of Iwata will “blend text and artwork together” – with quotes from Mr. Iwata and his colleagues. Also featured will be visuals of the games he helped create, color illustrations by talented artists, and “several prominent voices” from the gaming industry who will share their Iwata stories.
