The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has been out for less than a month and speedrunners already seem to be drastically improving by improving their times.
After the story of one person finishing the game in just 94 minutes after release, Speedrunner ‘Zdi’ has now managed to beat the sequel to Breath of the Wild (in “Any%” rendition on version 1.1.1) in just 59 minutes and 22 seconds. It is said to be a full three minutes faster than the previous world record holder and again less than an hour!
You can see the whole thing in action in the video below, but save the story and spoilers for last. More than half of the run is really just a fast runner progressing through the opening section of ‘Great Sky Island’. Additionally, there are in-game weapon tricks – allowing Link to move faster on the ground.
So there you have it – if you have an hour to spare, Tears of the Kingdom is easy to put down. Of course, we’re just kidding! The scale in Link’s new outing is absolutely massive, and unless you’re a veteran speed runner who enjoys racing against time, it’ll probably take you months to finish just one playthrough.
