The latest Epic Games Store weekly freebies are midnight ghost hunting.
Midnight Ghost Hunt, which replaces last week’s free game Death Stranding, is a 4v4 multiplayer game where ghosts roam the halls and you’re assigned to take them out as a ghost hunter.
You have all sorts of ghost exorcism techniques to banish them–if you want, since you can play as a ghost.
As a ghost, you can hide yourself from ghost hunters by hiding yourself inside harmless objects such as furniture, lamps, or even clocks. When they’re least suspicious, you can turn the situation against them with a telekinetic blast.
Ghostly perks include avoiding traps with Untrappable, seeing nearby hunters through walls with Perception, and extending your possession with Ghostly Reach.
When midnight comes, the hunter becomes the hunted and the ghost becomes supercharged, giving the hunter limited time to survive.
You have to communicate with your team to ensure victory, especially about the path the enemy has traveled. You can also choose from a variety of high-tech gadgets designed specifically for exorcising ghosts. To detect them, you can use spectrometers, radars, and pathfinders, trap them, and vacuum up their remains. Or, you can blast them to pieces with the Ghost Cannon, Sledgehammer, Harpoon, Salt Spray Shotgun, and more.
As a Hunter, you can also select Perks for special boosts. Choose from Lightweight for extra burst speed, Healing Aura for restoring health, and more game-leading powers.
Your hunt will take place in a variety of settings, including abandoned theaters, mansions, and cursed pirate ships. Each position brings different tactical considerations and items, as well as different opportunities to play tricks on your opponent.
This is just the beginning, as you can look forward to more once the game is out of early access.
