The DC Universe in cinemas has just taken a bit of a hit with current events in Hollywood. Bad news for Batman.
We can say what we will about Robert Pattinson, but it’s clear that he’s an excellent Batman and that the 2022 movie sequel is highly anticipated by Dark Knight and DC Comics fans alike. But bad news for everyone, the feature film has largely been postponed…
The Batman Part 2 is not available for the time being
To put it simply, the shooting of “The Batman Part II” with Robert Pattinson has been delayed and there can no longer be any talk of starting shooting in November 2023 as previously planned. The said delay could be related to the writers’ strike in Hollywood. As all writing activities have ceased and the film’s screenwriters Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin are actively participating in the strike. The goal is to demand fair wages and fair labor policies for all screenwriters, a legitimate goal that’s hard to denigrate as it makes sense.
The shooting too The Batman Part 2 should start now March 2024 in London, UK. The output of the sequel Batman is scheduled for October 3rd, 2025, which is more than two years from now, which should leave enough time for the production to be completed… Unless the strike is protracted, in which case we would have the right to one full postponement of the release date as it is. This is the case for many projects, even for the largest companies such as Disney.
Is the Batman in the DCU?
The Batman Part 2 will continue to be part of a standalone/alternate DC Universe distinct from the massive DCU project that Peter Safran and James Gunn are building. For this universe we should be dealing with another actor in the role of the Dark Knight and we don’t yet know who it will be. Note that said film bears the name The brave and the brave, free adaptation of the comics by Grant Morison, relating to the story of Damian Wayne, Batman’s hidden son. We will also have the opportunity to get to know Superman through a film of the same name and other surprises. Oddly enough, nothing currently exists about it justice league This is one of the favorite superhero bands by DC Comics fans. Maybe after all the madness surrounding Snyder’s work, Warner wants to move on?
