Displacing Henry Cavill in favor of a younger person is always difficult for the actor’s fervent fan base. However, three names stand out and things should be a reality very soon. Here are the three candidates in the running.
Three serious candidates for Superman Legacy
The Flash has hit theaters and will be the last DCU film as we know it. James Gunn and Peter Safran are creating an all new expanded universe beginning in July 2025 with Superman Legacy. A new adaptation of the Kryptonian, therefore without Henry Cavill, the new thinkers who want to direct a younger Clark Kent. The search is being refined and the cast of the next Superman is nearing completion, with three candidates in the running.
meeting In fact, DC Films and Warner Bros. revealed that a second series of tests would be held during Father’s Day week in the US, with James Gunn and Peter Safran at the helm. Three actors were invited to play Superman. Nicholas Hoult, who was expected to play Lex Luthor, should finally audition for the role of Clark Kent. The actor known for LeMenu, Renfield, X-Men or Mad Max Fury Road, would remain on Warner’s radar for a long time to come. Two other lesser-known names are also mentioned.
David Corenswet, who was the big favorite a few weeks ago and has already won over many fans due to his resemblance to Henry Cavill and the design of the hero in the comics. Finally, Tom Brittney would be the third serious contender to star in Superman Legacy. The largely unknown actor has appeared in the film USS Greyhound: The Battle of the Atlantic and the Grantchester series.
Three names for Lois Lane too
More names could be added to the list. Deadline explains that several agreements for these testing phases and auditions are still being negotiated. Lois Lane is also making progress. It’s always the same three actresses who are in the running. Emma Mackey, star of Netflix’s Sex Education series, Phoebe Dynevor, of Bridgerton fame, and finally Rachel Brosnahan, who starred in The Fabulous Mrs. Maisel and House of Cards.
Again, the list may not be complete. James Gunn eagerly follows each audition that is submitted and began his long-running business after completing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The names mentioned are those that emerged from his initial visits and a short list has been compiled. As for key roles like Lex Luthor and Jimmy Olsen, a decision might be made for Superman and Lois.
