In case you missed it, Ubisoft announced a new Prince of Persia Metroidvania “inspired” platformer during Summer Game Fest, and it’s coming to the Nintendo Switch early next year.
Unfortunately for developer Ubisoft Montpellier (known for its work on Rayman Legends), Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown didn’t get off to the best start. VGC reports that it has received “mostly negative reception” online – with more ‘dislikes’ than ‘likes’ on the official YouTube video combined.
“At the time of writing, all five videos combined have a total of 21,163 likes, compared to 52,691 dislikes.”
Twitter user ‘Zalman‘ also notes that Nintendo’s official upload has been more positively received than other versions of the reveal trailer.
Although it’s apparently “not entirely clear” why the Lost Crown announcement trailer was “generally” received this way, as he noted Push Square, one of the reasons could be that it is not the expected remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. And although there is no trace of it else PoP game still, Ubisoft says it’s still on the way.
Other reasons for ‘dislikes’ were related to the rap music in the trailer and claims that it was not “faithful” to the history of the IP.
To cut to the chase, reactions to The Lost Crown on YouTube and elsewhere on the internet have us wondering what our own community here at Nintendo Life thinks about the game, so we’re running a basic yes or no poll to see what you think.
