The June 11th Xbox Showcase was quite full of surprises and this new Bioshock-like game is one of them. Microsoft trusts its studios and tries to seduce.
In the midst of the big announcements, Xbox, without warning, announces the arrival of a homemade Bioshock in its Xbox Showcase. It is the InXile studio, which has been under the auspices of Xbox Studios for a few years and to which we owe the Wasteland series in particular, that is at the forefront of this new project. your name, Clockwork Revolution.
The Xbox Series is a son of Bioshock
While everyone is impatiently waiting for a Bioshock 4, more and more newcomers are emerging in the genre. After an ultra-solid Atomic Heart earlier in the year, an Xbox studio will soon be releasing a serious competitor. Clockwork Revolution strictly respects the recipe for the perfect Bioshock-like. A universe that seems frozen in time, an extravagant city where science has crossed all frontiers and where people are visibly striving to push new frontiers.
With the ability to time travel, you are tasked with solving the mysteries of the Avalon region. A technologically advanced metropolis whose major events in history are said to have been artificially altered. Social class struggle, one-sided wealth division, dictatorship… it’s time to put an end to it, using the same weapons: time travel. At least that’s what the synopsis of the game tells us.
The story of Clockwork Revolution takes place in the Victorian metropolis of Avalon. In this city, steam trains fly overhead, wealthy industrialists replace some of their limbs with prostheses, and mechanical servants cater to the slightest whim of their masters.
However, this new age of wonder does hide a dark secret: it was carefully crafted by the ruthless Lady Ironwood. Using a time travel device, she has altered key moments in Avalon’s history, trapping the working class in their factories and smelters as they seize wealth and power. This is where you come in…
Clockwork Revolution takes time
So it’s time travel using a sophisticated machine that can manipulate space-time in a variety of ways. For example, the trailer shows us that it will be possible to repair broken parts of the decor to create passages, or on the contrary, voluntarily destroy them yourself and then make amends for your misdeeds. InXile claims to have given everything for this new game, which in its opinion is the studio’s most ambitious. We only ask that you see it now.
Clockwork Revolution expected for Xbox Series and PC but has no release date yet. The game is still in its infancy, but the studio is actively working on it. Be continued.
