Square Enix has released a demo for Final Fantasy 16
The prologue introduces you to Clive as he sidesteps a spectacular and slightly confusing battle between two opposing factions, before looking back to Clive’s youth as Prince of the Grand Duchy of Rosaria. In this section, you’ll learn the basics of the game’s fluid combat, engage in one or two of its excellent boss fights, and experience some pretty dramatic storylines. You can check your save at the end of this prologue when the game is fully released.
I had a chance to play this prologue (and a bit later in the game) a few weeks ago and found that despite some big changes to the traditional tone and gameplay of the series, it still had that quintessential Final Fantasy feel.
according to a PlayStation blog postCompleting the prologue unlocks a “special battle demo” that gives you a taste of Clive’s abilities later in the game. That sounds like it was the Polygon demo sampled earlier this year that impressed us with the game’s combat dynamics, which have been refined by Devil May Cry 5 Designer Ryota Suzuki. You cannot save your progress in this part of the demo, but you can repeat it as many times as you like.
Final Fantasy 16 Coming to PlayStation 5 exclusively on June 22nd.
