iOS 17 seeks to improve the experience of iPhone users in group chats!

Messages includes new features like editing messages and replying to threads in iOS 17

During the presentation of iOS 17 Apple hizo enfasis en las improvements en la pantalla de bloco, pluses en la application Mensajes, nuevos stickers, nuevas functions de AirDrop, una application llamada Diario y un modo para usar el iPhone en posición horizontal y aprovechar su pantalla at most. But other equally interesting changes have been discovered in the first developer beta currently available, and one of them includes a first for Android users.

This change gives a smoother experience for iPhone users who send messages by including key features such as replying to threads, editing text, as well as sending higher quality photos and videos, in the same chats they share with Android users. But unlike what iOS users will receive, it can be a pain for Android users.

3 iOS 17 features that affect Android

Since iOS 17, group chats will now unlock these restricted features for iPhone. Although for now there are several features that should continue to be improved, so as not to make the Android experience worse.

In the currently available first beta version of iOS 17, changes like edited text messages and conversations are not appearing, or at least not in the correct order, in the Messages app on Android. So if someone on an iPhone fixes a typo, Android users in chat won’t see the update. Although presumably, this could be resolved at some point by sending a second text to the android user indicating that the text has been changed.

For the moment, threads take more account of android users in chat, since at least all of these messages will appear, although they still show a problem in the correct order.

Regarding the photos and videos, the first tests show that the update only allows Android users to send these formats in the same chat, but with poor qualitycompared to what iPhone users receive.

It certainly doesn’t sound like the solution users really want as it is right now, which is a common, modern protocol across all devices, where you don’t have to think about who you’re texting. But Apple should optimize this feature and we can definitely see it in the official release of iOS 17 which is expected in September.
