Yesterday’s Xbox Game Showcase featured the Star Wars games Ubisoft has been working on: star wars outlaws. Today’s Ubisoft Forward gives us a closer look at the game, due out in 2024.

Star Wars Outlaws takes place between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, introducing Kay Vess’ human protagonist. Wes is a rogue looking to pull off one of the biggest heists in Outer Rim history, and they’ll be accompanied by their adorable sidekick, Nix.

Today’s Ubisoft Forward showcased a gameplay trailer for Star Wars Sharpshooter in the Snowdrop engine, and I couldn’t be happier to get a glimpse of Nix in action. The gameplay on display was very stealthy to begin with, and we were even able to use our scaly little companions to help us wherever we went. Combat looks promising, too, with high-speed chases, spaceflight, and some slow-motion combat. Oh, and Nix can ride on the back of your motorcycle. Has this companion gotten cuter?

Lovely space salamander aside, players will take on the role of villain Kay Vess as they explore both familiar and new areas of Star Wars Deadshot. Your combat prowess isn’t paramount either; when making dialogue decisions, you need to choose how to carefully handle certain interactions to avoid trouble…or find trouble.

Now, I’m not a fan of Star Wars games unless they have LEGO in the title, but I do love cute sidekicks like Nix. Let’s also not forget the BX-commando droid we saw alongside Vess, which looks pretty good too. Outlaws all-in-all looks to tell a roguelike’s story in the most conflicted open world in the galaxy, and, let’s be honest, tell it.

Star Wars Deadshot is coming to PC, Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X in 2024.
