EA SPORTS PGA TOUR Title Update 4.0 is live, complete with a free weekend of play.
EA SPORTS PGA TOUR releases Title Update 4.0 that celebrates this weekend’s US Open Championship with a new playable course, the Los Angeles Country Club, and updated themes to match the Season 3 US Open Championship theme.
In addition to being able to play the new course in all game modes, new challenges recreating the iconic moments of the day will also be released during this Major tournament.
Alongside these seasonal improvements, the update also includes many Quality of Life updates and stability fixes such as an updated swing meter with improved clear-sky visibility.
EA SPORTS PGA TOUR is free to try on consoles during the US Open. From now until the end of the tournament on Sunday (06/18/2023), owners of an Xbox Series S|X with Xbox Live Gold can try out the full version as part of the “Free Play Days” promotion. PlayStation 5 owners with PlayStation Plus can also take part in the four-day free play weekend.
EA SPORTS PGA TOUR is constantly evolving based on feedback from our passionate community, and the EA Orlando team is working behind the scenes on additional updates like a 60fps performance mode for consoles, additional event duration options for Career mode, and turn-based online -Gameplay coming soon.
Highlights from the patch notes:
- Store and content:
- New specs are available through weekly quests, weekly tournaments, and seasonal tournaments.
- Command Series: Improves power and control.
- Escape Series: Improves accuracy and recovery.
- New Signature Series specs have been added to the store and will rotate throughout the season:

- Game Indicators:
- New “modern” swing indicator with a seamless design and better visibility in clear skies.
- A new graphics setting, Swing Meter Style, replaces the Club Trail setting. Options for using legacy swing meter and enabling/disabling club lanes are included.
- Aim curve has been updated to include an effect/color change if the ball would collide with an obstacle before reaching the apex. This makes it easier to see obvious obstacles such as bunkers directly in front of golfers or trees out of sight.
- Along with these changes, we’ve also made improvements to the putt line, target curve, and online ball stripes.
- New “modern” swing indicator with a seamless design and better visibility in clear skies.
- Gameplay Physics:
- Updated course specific ball flight physics. Altitude information has also been added to the course selection screen.
- On high courses like Banff Springs, the ball typically flies farther and has a slightly flatter trajectory.

- Other gameplay changes:
- Short putts by AI golfers have been improved.
- On-line:
- Golfer reactions in online gameplay have been permanently disabled to speed up the gameplay for everyone.
- Fixed a soft lock during online gameplay that would occur when the hole timer expired with the Fast Play setting selected.
- Fixed incorrect order of players on the online table after a person exits or disconnects during a round.
- Challenges:
- Fixed an issue that caused spectators to interfere with the first hit on some challenges.
- Added animation to the challenge banner after hole-in.
- Golfers:within:
- Updated Scottie Scheffler’s head model.
- Dustin Johnson has been updated and now plays with a Taylormade glove.
- Xander Schauffele has been updated to play with a Callaway glove.
- Jessica Korda’s outfits and logos have been updated.

- Fixed texture clipping issues on EA SPORTS V-neck polo shirts.
- Fixed some clipping issues on Golfer:innen’s hand with the glove on.
- Fixed clipping bugs with golfer’s hair and hat on low graphics settings.
- Lightened the texture of the EA SPORTS – White ball.
- Branding:
- Updated structures, outfits, wipes, etc. to use the latest US Open logo.
- Updated The Open logo on flag.
- The Augusta National loading screen now always shows the Masters trophy instead of the seasonal trophy.
- Wells Fargo Championship has been updated to use a solid white logo.
- FedEx St. Jude Championship has been updated to use a solid white logo.
- PC support:
- Fixed an issue that caused duplicate inputs to be recorded on store pages when an error was clicked away with the mouse.
- Players can no longer access locked challenges by clicking “Select” with the mouse.
- Various screens and HUD elements have been reworked to scale correctly and better support widescreen monitors.
