Presumably in Season 2, the gems in Diablo IV will no longer occupy the valuable space in the inventory.
For a game where enemies drop a lot of loot, Diablo IV’s inventory is pretty poor.
Players notice this at the latest when they collect gems. So they are not only available in different forms, but also quality levels. The trouser pocket of your druid or hunter is quickly stuffed with the bling.
Game Director Joe Shely himself admitted during the last Campfire Chat that the many colors and qualities of the gems can take up a lot of space.
But that will change.
So the gems could migrate to the other materials and currencies and be kept there. The functionality for using the stones would remain the same, according to Shely.
Shely said: “The idea is to change the way you acquire gems so that they are kept on a shelf in the material or currency tab and no longer in inventory. The way that would work is that you make your gems the same way you do today and only use a certain amount of the material.”
When exactly players can expect this solution, however, cannot be said. According to Shely, they will be introduced in Season 2. But since there is not even a start date for Season 1, it will probably take months.
