The release of Ghost Recon: Breakpoint was a few months ago, caused a lot of criticism in the community – and let Ubisoft roll out a roadmap that should adapt the game to the needs of fans. Now the time has come: With the new Title Update 2.0, which will be released on March 24, 2020, things will change drastically.

The publisher relies particularly on the so-called "Immersive Mode"who throws the entire role-playing loot spiral overboard and recovers the old strengths of the series. The game lets you choose how you want to play right from the start – and you can switch modes at any time in between.

Total freedom

The new update brings numerous innovations that are already noticeable on the start screen. First you can go straight to the beginning of the game choose between three options:

The three new game modes in Breakpoint. The three new game modes in Breakpoint.

  • normal: Plays Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint the way it was released, with gear values and level-dependent loot
  • Immersive: Equipment values and level-dependent loot are completely removed and new tactical options are available.
  • You can create it yourself: Choose your own selection of settings to create the perfect combination.

The latter mode is particularly interesting because you like the game complete freedom in combination of the individual settings there. These include the regeneration of the lifeline, the consumption of your stamina or even whether the ammunition should be lost when throwing away full magazines.

You can also change these settings at any time in the game. In addition, yours Co-op partners are not influenced by your settings. Everyone keeps their own adjustments in a multiplayer session.

A complete overview of all customizable settings can be found in the developer blog post.

New difficulty settings

You can also tinker with the level of difficulty on two different levels. Both the opponents and the tactical component of Ghost Recon: Breakpoint can be customize in several ways. While the adaption of the opposing AI relates to factors such as the damage done or the time to discovery, the tactical settings adjust the number of weapon slots or the risk of injury, for example.

Whether the update can give the disappointed Breakpoint players the fun they were expecting is of course not yet clear. However, our breakpoint expert Dimi makes a very optimistic forecast:

Dimitry Halley: Already in the GameStar test on Breakpoint it was important for me to emphasize that among all the problems of the new Ghost Recon there is a very cool co-op shooter that could hit the right notes to make fans happy. With Immersive Mode, Ubisoft shovels exactly these hidden strengths – I can now turn my crash on Auroa into a real survival adventure in which every bullet counts, every gunshot wound hurts me and I no longer have to loot chests senselessly for better hats to find. For years and days I have admired the Ubisoft teams for their staying power when it comes to implementing the community's suggestions for improvement. In the Breakpoint case, it should be too late for the really big live service game hype. But maybe the game will now be able to at least become a fan favorite. I would like it personally.

By the way, Ubisoft has also released a trailer in which you can watch the upcoming changes.
