While most Diablo IV players have yet to complete the campaign and earn points, those who do may not realize they’re missing a small part of the story. The game’s lengthy end credits hide a very brief end credits scene.
What’s more, not everyone understands this. Even those of us who sat (fast-forward) through them still don’t quite know what triggered it. Some believe it has to do with difficulty, while others say it only appears in games after the first one.
So what is going on? Blizzard’s cinematic character and creature artist Jamir Blanco confirmed on Twitter that Diablo 4 does have an end-credits scene, and players are starting to see it organically.
According to GamesRadar, this isn’t actually a major Marvel-style Stinger. It’s more of a tease, and even then, it’s so brief that no one really knows what it is actually tease. As you can see in the video (from AnActualSadTaco), the demon appears briefly and the image is throbbing.
Only the demon’s face is visible against a hellish red background. So which demon is it? That’s the way things are, actually not clear enough to speculate. Assuming Stinger is teasing the story of Diablo 4’s first post-launch season, it will likely follow the events of the campaign.
The in-scene demo is similar to Diablo, but that could just be confusion, so it’s hard to tell. There’s not necessarily a reason for Diablo to return, but Blizzard could still figure out a way to bring it back.
The first season is expected to start in mid to late July, so I imagine Blizzard will start teasing it properly at the beginning of the month, and then things might start to make sense.
