The cybersecurity trick that won’t take you more than 5 minutes
The Australian Prime Minister echoed the the advice of several cybersecurity professionals to prevent hacking of your smartphone, whether it is an iPhone or an Android. And the truth is that it’s quite simple:
Turn off your iPhone for 5 minutes every night.
This is a board that endorses various security agencies, including the US National Security Agency (NSA). Regularly restarting your iPhone could minimize the risk because Force close all apps and processes running in the background which could be user monitoring or data collection.
We all have a responsibility. Simple things, turn off the phone every night for five minutes. For people who see this, do it every 24 hours, do it while brushing your teeth or whatever you do.
Although this simple measure may not have the desired effect in some cases, such as the infamous Pegasus spyware, many experts recommend it. Restarting the device will make things more difficult for attackersAt least that’s what Priyadarsi Nanda, senior professor at the University of Technology Sydney, who specializes in cybersecurity development, says:
If there is a process running on the opposite side, turning off the phone breaks the chain, even if it’s just for when the phone is turned off, certainly frustrates the potential hacker. It may not fully protect you, but [reiniciar] can make things more difficult.
Of course, this is a simple advice that we can all apply on a daily basis. Leaving iPhone off for 5 minutes a day shouldn’t be a problem for anyone and could prevent our device from being hacked.
