Monitors send harmful waves into our eyes that can cause insomnia, eye strain, headaches, dry eyes and blurred vision. That’s why today we’re going to try to avoid it.
What are the solutions ?
We are going to see the different types of alternatives we have to protect our eyes in the best possible way.
1. Special Monitors
First, and the easiest way to protect yourself against harmful waves from a monitor is precisely to buy one with a factory-installed safety device that allows us to reduce this problem. Some brands already integrate it.
An example would be BenQ with its technology Low blue light More which, as they state, “specifically filters out harmful radiation (from 415nm to 455nm) to reduce damage to the human eye while maintaining image quality without altering the color in the tonal spectrum yellow”. It has different configurations and adapts to what we want. Very well designed to work for hours without suffering any problems.
Another brand would be Newskill Icarus with what they call technology Flicker Free. “This provides a system that decreases the DC current of the display backlight system. In this way, it is possible to reduce the brightness without producing harmful flicker. Make light changes more gradual.”
Each of these brands, as well as others, will reduce the problem without the need for an external solution, so you won’t have to worry about anything other than using your computer.
2. Blue light blocking glasses
A second fairly common and uncomplicated remedy is the use of special glasses, which they block blue light which damages our vision. In this case, if you are already using one due to vision problems, its use becomes more complicated, although if you plan to change them at some point, there are these same graduated ones so that you can use them without having to change them.
We’ll leave you with an example of some that are quite popular on Amazon and apparently work very well, although since we’re not playing with something as important as vision we’d recommend going to an optician for them, they will be more expensive but also of better quality. Just ask for blue light blocking glasses for digital screens. Websites like Multiópticas also sell them online.
3. Removable screen filters
Finally, we also have filters for monitors or even tablet/mobile screens that use the same technology as the others, with the advantage that we can put them on and take them off without any problem from any screen we have. already bought.
You just have to place them and that’s it, they will do all the work. They guarantee the block 90% of harmful emissions of blue light.
You can glue them permanently or use a special support to remove them when you want. We have them in all sizes and while they’re not overly cheap, they’ll do a great job for us without having to switch monitors.
As a last option, there are apps that promise to reduce this problem, however, they only change colors and lights so that our sight at least feels less tired, straining it less. They can work on it, but the visual damage produced by these waves will still be there. That’s why we recommend one of the above methods.
