After WWDC23, all eyes are now on the iPhone 15. Apple’s phone is still responsible for half of the company’s total revenue, the “main leg” of the stool, and the months of he summer is the most crucial for pre-launch operations.
This release date cannot be known yet (the presentation date has not even been confirmed in a opening speech), but we can look at their previous release dates for estimate a window of days in which we should expect the iPhone 15.
September, the magic month of Apple
If we think about the presentation, there is a day that always tends to have ballots to be the day of the opening speech: September 12. It has happened in other years that Apple reserves a day around this, in the same week. The week before (September 4) or the week after (September 18) can also be likely days.
The launch of the iPhone is already another matter. Here it all depends on how the production and logistics of all the units that Apple has to prepare, but if everything goes well it should not exceed the third or fourth week of September.
Last year there was a simple exception: the iPhone 14 Plus went on sale in early October. The same is not supposed to happen this year as suppliers have not had the problems caused by COVID in China. In summary, our bet is as follows:
- Introducing the iPhone 15 the week of September 12, or the weeks immediately before or after. Official invitations would reach the press 10 to 14 days before, to allow time to organize trips from anywhere in the world.
- iPhone 15 reservations a few days after the presentation and a week before the official launch. Maybe Friday the 15th or Friday the 22nd of September.
- iPhone 15 release in the third or fourth week of September, possibly Friday September 22 or Friday September 29.
Of course, these are just estimates based on what Apple generally does. There can always be variations or unforeseen events that they are forcing Cupertino to change their plan, so let’s not take these days for granted. We’ll know more details about everything at the end of the summer, and work with iOS 17 betas is progressing.
Beyond these days, October is usually a month where there is also an event to launch new iPads and possibly new Macs. And be careful with November, a month where another event is not excluded if Apple’s launch schedule is important.
