Microsoft paid $117 million to acquire Ninja Theory developer studio.
In 2018, Microsoft acquired British developer Ninja Theory. The studio is best known to Xbox players for Enslaved: Odyssey to the West (2010), DmC: Devil May Cry (2013) and most recently Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice (2017).
How much Microsoft put on the table for Ninja Theory was not publicly known. But internal documents that were made public at the FTC’s hearing against Microsoft provide information about this.
Ninja Theory got loud internal emails acquired by Microsoft in 2020 for $117 million.
The acquisition was announced during E3 2018, where Phil Spencer also announced the acquisition of Turn 10, Playground Games, Compulsion Games and Undead Labs at the Xbox Showcase.
