Sector 1: Dreadshore, Meet your makers The first major content update arrives tomorrow, offering players all-new tools to test their brutal creativity.

If you are new to the Wasteland, Meet your maker is a first-person city-building game in which players can use traps, guards and more to construct deadly fortresses or raid the fortresses constructed by others in a post-apocalyptic test of their skill and wits.

Meet your maker Creative Director Ash Pannell and Narrative Designer Joe Dermo share more about what players can expect as they journey into the misty twilight of Dread Shore.

What is a sector?

Important new DLC for Meet your maker comes in the form of sectors. Each sector reveals a new location, uniquely devastated by the virus that has ravaged the earth.

“We use sectors to deliver big gameplay updates through narrative,” explains Pannell. “It helps expand the story of Meet your maker alongside the actual gameplay.”

Dread Coast

Sector 1: Dreadshore will feature a new environment and a themed decoration pack – both free and immediately accessible to all players. An Arsenal Pack with a combination of key gameplay elements such as traps, sentinels, guards and weapons will also be available, offering new ways to build and raid. Players looking for even more unique ways to expand their builds can purchase an additional cosmetic collection that includes a new skin pack and skins.

As we celebrate the release of our very first Sector, we’re inviting players to grab the Arsenal Pack for free starting tomorrow through July 10th, giving them instant access to all brand new tools.

Into the mud and mist of Dreadshore

Players can build and loot in a new environment far from the harsh, arid Red Sands.

“Dreadshore puts us in a completely different environment than the Red Sands we’re used to,” explains Dermo. “It feels like stepping into another world, and it’s a reminder that even during this apocalyptic event, many parts of the earth retain their uniqueness.”

Dread Coast

“Dreadshore is the site of an abandoned sanctuary housed beneath a lighthouse. In it, advisors were constantly being cloned so that cruel experiments could be conducted on them. One person escaped, killing the runaway Custodian and Chimera on the way out. The new blocks and deco packs represent the larger environment and the lighthouse that stood over this doomed sanctuary.”

The Arsenal Pack’s deadly new tools

The Arsenal Pack is an incredibly important part of the release. It comes equipped with a new keeper, trap, ward, and weapon. Each is uniquely designed to crush your enemies, and each has their own connection to the lore of Dread Shores.

New manager: Nautilus

“The Nautilus represents the sole survivor of the Dreadshore Sanctuary. “This character was secretly building a suit that could boost their defensive abilities so they could escape,” says Dermo.

Dread Coast

For those wondering how the Custodian plays, Pannell explains, “Nautilus is all about defensive weapon abilities. All three benefits greatly improve arc barrier capabilities. It finally offers benefits for players who love a defensive weapon.”

New Trap: Sentry Beam

This new trap decimates raiders with a deadly blast of heated light. “The Sentry Beam was used by the Dreadshore Sanctuary to contain the large number of prisoners it held,” comments Dermo. “It’s a menacing device because its red eye follows its target’s movement and fires a laser that ricochets off surfaces.”

Expect the Sentry Beam to be an interesting element of chaos for raiders. “When it bounces off the walls, it introduces a nice new sense of randomness that helps break up repetitive gameplay patterns,” notes Pannell.

New Guard: Ravager

In order to hold a large captive population, the lighthouse sanctuary needed a deterrent. “The Ravager is the unintended result of a Dreadshore experiment, and its vision issues have been corrected in a weird way,” shares Dermo. “The guard sees multiple targets where there is only one and shoots a bolt at each one at the same time. This creates a deadly scatter shot effect.”

Like the Sentry Beam, The Ravager was designed to transform the way players build and loot. “Think of this as a different kind of pattern breaker,” adds Pannell. “The Ravager has a horizontal field of fire, making it very difficult to dodge. Combined with other guards and traps, players will have to adjust their playstyle again.”

New weapon: explosive cannon

The newest weapon is a grenade launcher that fires an explosive charge in a reusable shell. “The Demolition Cannon was designed for war, but when global unrest broke out, it was used more as a deadly crowd control weapon,” explains Dermo. “Dreadshore offers this weapon as a last resort should the prisoners rebel.”

Dread Coast

Every gameplay element has a story to tell. But with all the new tools at your disposal, you can make up your own spooky story. We can’t wait to see what players create when they get their hands on the new content.

For those wondering where the next sector will take us, Dermo has a clue: “Brrr!”

Unleash your brutal creativity – Sector 1: Dreadshore for Meet your maker starts tomorrow.
