Light candles, serve drinks, order food … Come on, we're talking about the basic of any appointment. However, for Table Manners, an appointment simulator based on the physics of objects, very simple tasks can be problematic. The new Echo Chamber Games will allow you to control a floating hand while battling unstable controls in which you will have to complete a series of tasks and win your appointment in a timely manner. This disaster formula has some funny moments but, often, we run into many failures.
As we mentioned, the purpose of each Table Manners level is to keep your time happy. You will know because your feelings are displayed in the bar in the upper right corner. This bar will vary depending on how effective your requests are, such as serving them food or drink. As you struggle to find it, you'll throw things on the table or even put the fire out and you'll see that your partner will be impatient, because he'll start pulling out the phone or looking at you when he crosses his arms. In the end, you will get a star rating depending on your performance in the game, and it is important to do your best, because subsequent appointments and restaurants will require a certain amount of stars to open.
Your desk notebook serves as a level selection, and inside it you can access six different facilities, each with its own features. One of the levels takes place at a sushi restaurant with conveyor belts and your partner will ask you to serve meat and vegetables with chopsticks. On another level, you'll find yourself on the ship's paper and eating dinner on two of your tables that will rotate from one to the next when the wave hits the ship. The variety prevents it from looking too complicated, in fact, it was really fun to find out what other places we will meet later.
Managing controls is the biggest challenge you find in Table Manners. With W and S you raise and lower your hand, but when you lower yourself you run the risk, for example, throwing whatever you have in front of you. If you hold the mouse button to the right you can move things. It may take a while to master this action, because if you release the button too early, you can accidentally miss your item. If we add a time limit to these complex controls, we will find problematic situations that will affect the disaster.
The situation was already complicated, but the errors that popped up kept adding to us high pressure level. We noticed that our hand was sometimes on the table. Sometimes, when we picked up an item, everything around it was suspended in the air. Or two times we encountered an error that did not allow us to upgrade or reset, so we had to reschedule the game. These bugs sometimes cost us precious seconds and it was very frustrating to go back and over the level due to technical problems of the game.
You can choose between several couples they may have time to meet by including them in the Blundr (Tinder imitation) program, as well as discussing direct messages with the characters in the game. You can either tell them a joke or try to seduce them and the two methods often provoke funny responses. The problem with this part is that it seems insignificant, since you won't get any benefit from talking to your appointments. In fact, all you can do is make the situation worse, because they can stop you endlessly. Also, some of the answers they provide are reasonable. We remember that the appointment told us we were disgusted but, soon after, he expected to stay with us.
In addition, there are a few different characters you can come out with, there are a few random symbols that distinguish between them, not to mention that we saw about five different biographies in all of Blundr's profiles. It is also guaranteed that you will have the game with all the appointments you want and no background story that reveals the motivations for your adventure in the app. So, all of these features gave us the feeling that they hadn't improved much in Table Manners. We would have liked the developers to spend more time on all these features, they would have been a little extra.
Thus, the ongoing mistakes, frustrating controls and negligence of Table Manners failed to keep us stuck for longer than the nominal period. In addition, we saw that the mistakes of the game often changed the continuity of Blundr's interactions, thus ultimately giving the impression that nothing was improving. So, even though we found out that some restaurants turned out to be very good ideas and made the conditions very interesting, and even though the art style is very good and good, we recommend you move the game to the left.
