Atari is bringing Haunted House back from the dead, the original horror game celebrating 42 years since its release on the Atari 2600.
Atari announced a reimagining of its classic survival horror game Haunted house. This is a tribute to the original Atari adventure that marked many veteran gamers. Haunted house It was originally released in 1982 for the Atari 2600 console and was developed by Atari itself. Today, 42 years later, Studio Orbit will be in charge of this renewed project full of intrigue.
Haunted house will combine roguelite elements with stealth gameplay and boss fights. Players will control Lyn Graves, a treasure hunter’s niece who visits her uncle’s mansion and finds it is infested with demons and monsters who have kidnapped her friends. Lyn must find the pieces of a magical urn to free them and trap the supernatural enemies.
The game will feature procedural room layouts (randomly generated), changing walls, unpredictable enemy locations, and unique ghostly encounters. Each game will be different and challenging. The game promises to deliver a renewed and fun horror experience for all fans of the genre and will arrive later this year on Xbox Series, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC and Atari VCS.
We don’t have a trailer yet, but we can see some screenshots of his gameplay:
Haunted House Key Features:
- A resurrected roguelite: Haunted House, one of Atari’s greatest hits. This edition doubles down on stealth and puzzling challenges while adding roguelite elements. All of this ensures that no two games are the same.
- EXCITING GAME FOR ALL AGES: Haunted House’s whimsical, cartoony art style barely hides the thrills and excitement. The game remains in category E (general public) for its gameplay based on stealth and its light combat sequences.
- Unlockable Characters – As Lyn explores, she will free her trapped friends, who will become playable characters with whom you can adventure around the mansion. Each friend has different characteristics, so depending on who you explore the mansion with, it will be a whole new experience!
- Atari Easter Eggs: The Game is packed with collectibles and a story based on the original haunted house and other Atari Golden Age classics.
- Did we mention stealth? – With less emphasis on combat, players should focus on stealth moves. Along with solving challenges without being seen in the shadows, as well as using the arsenal of traps and items at your disposal to distract the ghouls hunting Lyn. Lyn needs to collect gems to boost abilities and perks that will make her much stronger on the next trip through the maze of the mansion.
