Yesterday, that weird combination of the Nintendo Play Station platform sold at auction for $ 360,000. Today, thanks to Forbes, now we know who bought it, why they bought it and what they plan to do with it.
Greg McLemore is the founder of Petsts.com, a website dating back to the early '90s. Amazon bought part of the site and then it and other existing sites went out of business in the early 2000's. But McLemore is making a nice money key on Pets.com and other websites and is now rich. And he uses his money to buy old video game equipment, equipment, games and other pieces of gaming history.
The Notendo Play Station prototype console is just the latest piece of game history that McLemore bought. He tells Forbes that he plans to build a museum with his vast collection of video gaming and arcade machines.
The Nintendo Play Station console was available back in 2015 to the balcony of Terry Diebold. He had bought it for auction for $ 75, not knowing what it was and kept it in his apartment. His son found it, posted a picture of himself on Reddit and immediately find themselves one of the most unique and coldest pieces of video game hardware in the world. Terry Diebold and his son said someone had given them $1,2 million of the console at the same time.
McLemore told Forbes that sometime he donated the Diebolds $ 100k to the printing press.
While they don’t sell more than a million consoles, getting over $ 300k is $ 75 investment is not too bad.
