The Nothing Phone (2) exposed before its launch: here is the design

Leaks of new mobiles like the Pixel 8 are usually something that companies want to avoid at all costs, and they impose serious security measures to avoid them; but no one escapes that these leaks serve to promote the product and generate more expectations. It was therefore inevitable that a brand would do the trick “official leaks” of their productsand of course it had to be Carl Pei and Nothing.

Neither tactic makes sense. Rather than waiting for someone to post a blurry photo of the device that doesn’t show off what’s new well, they’d rather make the reveal with high-res photos and videos. This explains that one week before the presentation of the Nothing Phone (2), the device has already been shown to the world.

For this “official leak”, Nothing collaborated with YouTuber Marquess Brownlee, in addition to posting the first photos of the device on their official social media accounts like Instagram. This way we can see the Nothing Phone (2) in all its glory for the first time.

It’s the phone of nothing (2)

The first thing that stands out from the Nothing Phone (2) is how little it has changed from its predecessor, at least at first glance. Design lines remain the same, and the rear of the device continues to have the Glyph lighting system integrated; but just by looking a little, it is possible to find significant differences.

Perhaps the biggest change is that the rear now has a curved glass, something that should be more noticeable in the hand than in photographs. The “mechanical” elements of the rear design are also slightly different, which is easier to see by directly comparing Phone (1) and Phone (2).

The Glyph system, while having the same general form, is actually quite different; now it is made up of 33 LED lights, against 12 of the previous model. This is noticeable in the design, as there are more independent lights, but also in the functionality; now the lights will be able to show more information, such as an app’s progress or when there’s a countdown. Apps will need to be modified to adopt this feature, so aside from Nothing’s apps, not many are taking advantage of the new design at the moment.

The Nothing Phone (2) will be officially presented July 11where news related to performance and the “hardware” used is expected, which could be accompanied by a price increase.
