Capcom has been a force to be reckoned with when it comes to impressive game remakes (namely Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 Remake). In a Q&A at the general meeting, the developer did not rule out that remakes of spin-off games from the series might also receive remakes.
The AGM Q&A was first reported by the folks at GamesRadar, and it contained small bits of information about Capcom’s plans, sales strategy, and more. However, one of the most interesting tidbits from the meeting was about Resident Evil.
When asked if the developer would only offer high-end visual remakes of numbered entries in the Resident Evil series, Capcom responded: “We are discussing a future expansion of the series so that a broad audience can enjoy it.”
Now, that’s certainly an evasive answer made up of corporate rhetoric that doesn’t really tell us much. However, the answer doesn’t rule out that spinoff games from the Resident Evil franchise, such as Veronica Code and Apocalypse, won’t be remade. Sadly, there’s no certainty yet that we’ll see Code Veronica on a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S near you anytime soon. However, with the idea not being ruled out, we can be hopeful.
Released on the Dreamcast in 2000, Resident Evil: Code Veronica follows Claire Redfield’s perilous journey a few months after the events of Resident Evil 2. This spin-off game is a fantastic game in one of the best horror franchises of all time, though it’s getting pretty old now. Although ten years later we received an HD remake of the game, I welcome the full remake of Code Veronica with open arms.
Of all the Resident Evil games, which one do you want to remake next? let us know!
